There are three entry categories, including a new* one: 1) Upcycled Ready-to-wear:Outfits submitted to this category should be made from used textiles or used clothing from any source. If using articles of clothing, they must be altered significantly from what they started out as. Newer notions allowed for closures (e.g., zippers, buttons, etc) but creative reuse of notions is also celebrated (e.g., zipper and button jewelry). 2) Mystery Box: Mystery box designers do not need to send sketches, just request a box by February 11 and pick up the box by February 28 atEsther's Fabrics(note: this is a different pick-up venue than previously announced) on Bainbridge Island. There are a total of 10 boxes available, so earlier requests are most likely to get a box. 3) Shop Your Closet*:The goal of this challenge is a materials budget of zero dollars. It is a backwards design challenge – Use what you have or your friends have already in their closets, unused and unloved. Remake something old into something new and loved! Let the materials guide you, instead of coming up with a design first. For this challenge, send photographs of original materials and sketch together.
